Modern mind-body psychotherapy and wellness services for the modern adult seeking meaningful change
Co-creating a Supportive Space for Meaningful Change Within + Out
Many of us carry our past experiences and stress without realizing it— to the point where we feel it not only emotionally, but also in our physical bodies. Research confirms the mind and body aren’t so separate after all, but more of an interdependent unit greatly influencing one another. This is why we take a collaborative, integrative, experiential approach in our work together.
Past traumas, modern day stress, anxiety, burnout, overwhelm or feeling stuck, chronic illness, difficult life transition, caught in the cycles of shame + self criticism; these are all labels and struggles many of us identify with at some point, but they don't define us. And we have the ability to reclaim vitality and connect to our innate resilience, no matter who we are or what we have been through.
meet Melissa
Hi! I’m so glad your own curiosity and courage led you here. I’m Melissa (she/her/hers) and I’m a psychotherapist (LCSW), Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and trauma-informed yoga teacher (RYT) who holds a profound appreciation for the human condition and belief in our inherent resilience. I'm super passionate about what I do and I love encouraging and supporting others on their own journey of self-discovery and healing. At the same time, I truly believe our shared humanity serves as a life raft and it's in this space of being witnessed in our messy, imperfect, but whole selves, healing can happen. Because I take the time to get to know my clients, it only makes sense that you get to know a little about me and what I can offer you, too.

My Approach
While there are many modalities and approaches to the therapeutic process, evidence shows what we might intuitively know— that the right “fit” and relationship is the single most important piece when it comes to supporting our healing. My invitation to you is to come just as you are. Considering therapy, whether it’s for the first time or just with a new practitioner, can understandably feel intimidating. My goal is to make it feel approachable, natural, and even exciting. I combine my own lived experience and clinical training + skills to help folks move from patterns of protection (that may have been helpful at one point, but don’t serve us so well anymore) to patterns of inner + interconnection. In our individual work together we will utilize both somatic and cognitive based approaches (to address the whole) and produce best outcomes as it relates to your goals. As a clinical social worker, I approach therapy through an intersectional socio-cultural lens, recognizing that individuals’ experiences are also shaped by a complex web of identities, systems, and power dynamics. I firmly believe that therapy is inherently political because it operates within broader societal structures that influence mental health and well-being.
I work with you as a collaborative guide to co-create an experience where no matter who you are or what you have gone through, you are invited to (re)discover self-trust, confidence, belief in your wholeness and own embodied wisdom.
Licensed in both NC + NY, I currently offer virtual sessions or the option of in person for those located in Asheville, NC. Feel free to reach out for a complimentary 15 minute phone consult to see if we are a good fit!
Humans are wired for connection, meaning we aren’t meant to do any of this alone. Asking for support is one of the bravest, most rewarding things you can do for yourself.
